One killed, 5 injured in accidents
On January 11 morning, one truck (AS-01EC-8528) driven by Nurul Hussain capsized near Nangbah junction in West Jaintia Hills. As a result, the driver sustained injuries.
On January 11 around 11 pm, one vehicle (MN-06LA-6248) driven by Serto Noucha collided with another vehicle (AS-01DE-6778) driven by Muzza Uddin at Umsning By-pass, Ri Bhoi. As a result, three occupants of the vehicles including one minor boy sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Umsning.
On January 11 at 5.30 pm, one motorcycle (UP-10C-3900) ridden by Chiranjit Hajong (19) met with an accident at Tongnapara (SWGH). As a result, the motorcycle rider and the pillion rider sustained injuries and were shifted to CH Tura and CH Ampati, respectively. Later, the rider succumbed to his injuries at CH Tura.

Man duped of Rs 4 crore
Fourness Dkhar lodged a complaint that Cheerful D Sohkhia has duped him, his family members and close friends of Rs. 4 crore, which was collected at regular interval from them, since 2017, on the account of projecting and investment under Pradhan Mantri Yojana (Senior Citizen Scheme for Women) by fraudulently using the seal of the Executive Magistrate in the Collection Card.

Goons open fire; two injured
Moralin Thangkhiew lodged a complaint that on December 31, 2018, Satamon Thangkhiew (61) along with two others threatened her son and her employees at Khongwai Umpi, Mawlyndep (East Kkasi Hills). Again, on January 10, seven to eight masked persons went to the place and threatened her employee and open fired causing injuries to Mekostar Sohtun (22) and Safrin Rani (24).

Cop assaults civilian
On January 14, a Police personnel identified as Nickson Sangma of Police Reserve Shillong assaulted one tourist taxi driver namely Biswanath Raining (60) at Sohbala, Umsning in Ri Bhoi.
Five arrested for assaulting woman
Niewkor Hinge lodged a complaint that on January 10 around 12.30 pm, Ima Langstang along with her accomplices attacked her with deadly weapons at New Hill, Jowai. As a result, the complainant sustained injuries. In this connection, Police arrested five persons, Ima Langstang (39), Lipupang Lyngdoh (26), Promise Take Lyngdoh, Petermon Langstang (19) and Wanmiki Langstang (20).

Suo motu case registered
A suo motu case was registered that during the road blockade called by Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisation (CoHSO) from 7 pm on January 10 to next day 5 am, some boys were seen burning tyres on NH-44, thereby disrupting free movement of vehicles, causing panic and insecurity to the public at large.

Armed men rob house in GH
Rakseng Marak lodged a complaint that on January 9 at about 1.30 am, a group of 16 people armed with guns, daggers, etc., entered inside his house at Asanang, West Garo Hills, looted cash Rs. 1,81,700 and one cell phone and also destroyed household articles.

Theft
On the night of January 12, miscreants stole forty-four batteries valued around Rs. 2,80,000 from Goldagre, South West Garo Hills.
On the night of January 8, miscreants entered into the premises of Amrit Cement Ltd., at Umlaper (EJH) and stole one Water Pump valued around Rs. 1,35,000.
