Cabinet meet
The Cabinet meeting will be held on January 16 at 3 pm in Committee Room 1, Meghalaya Main Secretariat Building, Shillong.

Meeting
The general body meeting of the association of power engineers, Meghalaya zone will be held on January 18 at 12 noon at Asom Kristi Kendra, Dhankheti.

Celebration
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) will be celebrating Saksham 2019 throughout the state from January 16 to February 15. As part of the celebration an inaugural ceremony will be organised on January 16 from 2:30 pm at the roof top of “ Hotel Heiga VNS” which will he followed by high tea and a “Quiz Competition” open for all. Senior govt officials besides the public and POL / LPG dealers of the state will attend the ceremony.

Sec 144 in EGH
In view of the prohibition of coal mining in any form by the National Green Tribunal in the entire state and the Civil Appeal in the Supreme Court of India, East Garo Hills District Magistrate, Swapnil Tembe, had promulgated Section 144 of the CrPC thereby strictly prohibiting any extraction or mining of coal in the entire district, transportation of coal without proper transit challans and transportation of coal in excess of assessed or permissible quantity. Any violation of this order will invite penal action under Section 188 of the IPC and the Section 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
