TURA: Voicing its strong opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) the A’chik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) on Thursday organized a Poster Campaign cum Pamplets distribution programme in and around Tura area.

Around 100 members on vehicles including two wheelers began the programme from Asanang to MP Stadium at Dakopgre passing through Ringre, Tura market, Dobasipara, New Tura, Bokmagre, ICFAI and Megong Boldak.

Other organizations like the GSU, FKJGP, ADE and NESO also participated in the protest to jointly seek the scrapping of the CAB 2016. During the protest, slogans were shouted against the NDA coalition and the BJP for trying to forced the bill on the people of the region.

Speaking at a particular stop GSU President Tengsak G Momin urged one and all to be vigilant about the impending threats posed to the Community by this Bill. He asked everyone to defend their Motherland or else be ready to be a part of History after due extinction.

“If more than 1 crore Hindus from Bangladesh get to settle in NE, where will we go? Can we afford to sacrifice our land to the Bangladeshis? We have to defend our motherland. If NDA government tries to bulldoze our ‘cry for survival’, then we will fight till the last drop of our bloods,” Momin said.

General Secretary of AYWO, Sengbath Chambugong came down heavily on NDA government for the move. He accused the BJP of playing dirty politics ahead of the 2019 polls to garner votes from the Bengali Hindus which has a substantial population in West Bengal and Cachar. “BJP knows that they can make up for the loss in NE by gaining in WB,” he added.

During the protest the organization also extended its support to the ongoing agitation by NESO and vowed to go to any extent to protect the identity of the indigenous people.
