SHILLONG: The state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJP Youth Wing) Egenstar Kurkalang resigned from the party citing personal matters on Monday.

In a letter to the state BJP president, Shibun Lyngdoh, Kurkalang said there were “some unavoidable circumstances based on personal grounds” which caused him to discontinue working for the party.

He has resigned from the post of BJP youth wing president and as a primary member of the party with effect from January 21, 2019.

It may be mentioned that Kurkalang unsuccessfully contested the Nongkrem seat from BJP in the last general election of 2018.
