SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on the occasion of Meghalaya Day launched the Chief Minister’s WhatsApp based redress mechanism under which the common people of the state would have an access to the Chief Minister’s office to express their grievances on any matter.
Speaking to media persons after launching the system, Conrad Sangma said that system was a platform for people to express their concern and grievances directly to the Chief Minister’s office
Asserting that it is not a complete resolving system but an access for the people to the CM’s office, Sangma added that there were lots of problems at the grassroot which are easy to resolve but they don’t get resolved simply because of the fact that people cannot reach the right and competent authorities
It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister’s office will have a complete database and a back office along with manpower for the functioning of the system and the grievances which will be shared in system will be shared with line departments for necessary action
The Chief Minister maintained that the system would also allow the Government to analyse the trends of the problems and grievances department wise and area wise besides highlighting the issues which plagues any department or sector
Citing an example, the Chief Minister added that they have been getting many complaints about electricity problem in East Khasi Hills district whereas there was no problem in other districts and Government can analyse the problem and accordingly call the Power department to resolve the issues
The Chief Minister also admitted that there would be several challenges as well while operating the system since there would be many unnecessary complaints and fake complaints as well
It may be mentioned that different authorities in the country including police, Government and different agencies are using similar WhatsApp based redress mechanism for people to express their grievances on different subject matter
