Accident
On January 19 one timber laden Bolero pick-up (ML-10A-7943) driven by Pyrkhatjanai Syngkli fell into a gorge at Mawlangai village in Ri Bhoi. The helper identified as Ialam Mawphniang died on the spot.
On January 14 around 8:15 am, one private vehicle (ML-05R-9154) knocked down Trisila Khongsit (50) in Fire Brigade. The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Nazareth Hospital where she was later referred to NEIGRIHMS.

Arson
DD Syiem, Principal, St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong lodged a complaint stating that on January 4 around 8:45pm and on January 8 around 5:00pm, unknown miscreants set fire to the boundary fence of the school playground resulting in an estimated cost of Rs 30,000 in property damage.

Assault
Lucy Mary Rymbai lodged a complaint stating that on January 20 around 2:00 am, her brother was stabbed in the stomach by three persons identified as Paila Kordor Majaw (20) , Joy Khonglah and Banmanbha Thangkhiew (28) at Lad Jaiaw. The victim was taken to Nazareth Hospital. Police have arrested the accused.
Streamlet Warjri lodged a complaint stating that on January 19 around 9:30 pm, Batskhembor Kharkongor assaulted Marshal Warjri with an iron rod at Mawblei, Block-B.
Anti Kurbah lodged a complaint stating that on January 14, her husband Rodor Ryntathiang assaulted her at their residednce in Mairangbah in West Khasi Hills.

Botched kidnapping
A complaint was lodged stating that on January 18 around 7:00pm, one unidentified person in a vehicle attempted to abduct a fourteen-year-old girl from Umkrem village in West Khasi Hills. During her escape, the girl sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital in Mairang for treatment.

Fraud
Rangdajied Kharkongor lodged a complaint stating that his employer Saidonik Nongkhlaw bought a Maruti Swift in the name of the complainant which was financed by Cholamandalam Finance Company Ltd., Laitumkhrah. However, the accused has defaulted in paying the EMI and has withheld the pass book and cheque book of the complainant.
Billiroy Mawsor (52) lodged a complaint stating that in June, 2017 he had signed an agreement with Gonai Mawsor for renting her a shop at the rate of Rs 1,50,000 for a period of thirty years. However, he later learnt that the shop belonged to Rongrin Clan and not Gonai Mawsor.

Man found dead
On January 19 around 2:00 am, one Iari Lamin (19) was found lying on the roadside at Mawshun NH-40 Shillong-Dawki Road in East Khasi Hills. He was taken to PHC Pongtung where the MO declared him brought dead.

Missing
Rashmi Sherchan of Khliehriat West lodged a complaint stating that on January 15 around 1:30 pm, her younger sister identified as Reena Sherchan (16) went missing from a tea shop in Moowakhu village in East Jaintia Hills while returning home from Ladrymbai along with her father.

Theft
On January 18 around 8:30 pm, three unidentified armed miscreants in a black Maruti Alto, robbed a petrol pump at Mawshun village under Pynursla PS in East Khasi Hills. The robbers managed to flee with Rs 2,33,380 cash.
Aneyjuncy Marbaniang of Sohshnong village in West Khasi Hills lodged a complaint stating that on January 17, unknown miscreants stole two tyres from her vehicle (ML-05R-6986) which was parked near her residence.
On January 16, unknown miscreant(s) stole one LPG cylinder and an emergency torch from Quarter No. A-180/ belonging to Hav. Siddhartha Shankar at Kiran Line in Happy Valley.
On January 16, unknown miscreants stole one Tata Sumo (ML-04-B-9854) belonging to Suklang Nongpluh which was parked at Mawiong, Umjapung.
On January 13, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (AS-19B-5752) belonging to Suanson Marak which was parked at Hatibasa in North Garo Hills.
Christabell K Marak lodged a complaint stating that on January 7, she discovered that during the absence of her family, unknown miscreants had broken into her house and stole one desktop computer, TV set and other items worth about Rs 1 lakh.

Threat
Deibor Sympli, President, VDP Rymbai village and one other lodged a joint complaint stating that on November 28, 2018, Pynchemeki Bareh stole Rs 3 lakh cash from his father. When the VDP party tried to apprehend him, the accused threatened them with dire consequences.
