SHILLONG: The state government has not paid any amount to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) for regulating power supply to the state for over a month now and the dues now amount to Rs. 550 crore.
NEEPCO managing director AG West Kharkongor said on Monday regular supply of power is continuing from NEEPCO and the remaining dues for Meghalaya stand at Rs 550 crore. The amount includes principal and interest.
It may be mentioned that NEEPCO on an average supplies 145-155 mw of power to the state.
Following the regulation, the state government had resorted to load shedding for a brief period after which it was withdrawn.
However, residents of different localities in Shillong lament that power supply has become erratic nowadays.
