NONGSTOIN: The KSU Rimuliang Circle and the KSU West Khasi Hills District Unit have denied the allegation of Assam Police that the members of the union had set ablaze three thatched houses belonging to Nepali community at Moinadhora village near Langpih, the disputed area between Assam and Meghalaya.
The KSU also protested against the Assam Police for the arrest of one of the KSU members with an allegation that he was involved in the case.
Jylliew Marwein, president of the KSU Rimuliang Circle told media persons on Monday that the KSU member Artingwel Kharsanglein has nothing to do with the case but he was framed by Pailostar Syiemlieh, who claimed to be the Goanburah of Mawlan B.
According to Jylliew, the KSU Rimuliang Circle found that the Goanburah who belongs to the Khasi community had enrolled the villagers of Mawlan B in both Meghalaya and Assam and told them that they will avail benefits from both the states.
The KSU carried out a raid and found out that Pailos had Meghalaya EPIC and also secured an Assam EPIC with a change of name, Pai Simli.
The following day, Pailos filed a complaint with Assam police and named Artingwell for his involvement in carrying out the raid.
After his arrest, Artingwell was released from Boko following the intervention of former MLA of Rambrai Jyrngam, K.P.Pangniang.
John Fisher Nongsiang, President of the KSU, West Khasi Hills District said that even though one of the members of the Union was released, the Assam police pose a threat to the people living in Langpih.
Nongsiang also urged the election department to take immediate action against those who try to enrol their names in both the states.
