SHILLONG: The state government on Monday informed that plans have been drawn up to renovate the U Soso Tham auditorium which hosts various programmes in the city.
Arts and Culture Minister AL Hek said that it has been decided to renovate the exterior as well as interior of the auditorium in addition to the lighting and sound system.
Hek said that the government would renovate all the auditoriums and museums in the entire state under central funds.
On being asked about the delay in completion of the Captain Williamson Sangma museum located on the same premises, Hek said that the government has taken the contractor to task since he had stopped the work after being denied advance payments.
“They wanted the Government to release advance but we have told them that they have to complete the project and Government will accordingly clearly the bills,” Hek said.
