AMPATI: Fourteen villages under Zikzak C&RD Block in South West Garo Hills on Tuesday celebrated the first anniversary of ‘My village, model village’, launched by former chief minister Mukul Sangma at Garagre on May 5, 2017.
The ‘My village, model village’ programme facilitated by Bakdil, an NGO. The concept is based on a sustainable development model to empower the communities by addressing the critical gaps in convergence with line departments and other government agencies through increased community participation.
The project aims to increase livelihood opportunities through assistance from financial institutions and accomplish food security through multiple cropping, formations of farmers clubs and promotion of integrated farming system.
