SHILLONG: The executive committee (ad hoc) of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Kur will hold a meeting of heads of different clans at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture on Saturday.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla said there are 3,000 organised clans in Khasi and also invited those clans which have not organised themselves yet.
General secretary of the Synjuk Aristotle Lyngdoh said the Synjuk stands on the basis of preserving traditional customs and practices of the Khasi and Jaintia tribes.
“The theme of the meeting will be ‘The role of clans in the community’,” he added. Called the Dorbar Bah ki Rangbah Kur ka Bri – U Hynniewtrep, the meeting is set to discuss current issues related to the Khasi community.
Stating that the role of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Kur is vast, Shylla said the Synjuk will play a role in shaping policies for the indigenous community as youths often get engaged in violence over various issues.
“We do not want the youth to resort to violence, they should not have blood in their hands,” he added.
