Newspaper Editor, Proprietor G L Agarwalla passes away

GUWAHATI: A pioneer in publishing of multi-edition and multi-language newspapers in the Northeast,  a veteran Editor G L Agarwalla breathed his last here on Thursday afternoon.

The proprietor of G L Publications died at a city nursing home.  He was suffering from old-age ailments for the last few months and was admitted to a hospital a few days back.
Agarwalla’s  G L Publications owns newspapers like Amar Asom, The North East Daily, The Meghalaya Guardian and Purbanchal Prahari.
He was the Editor of Purbanchal Prahari. Agarwalla was the first  in the northeast region to start multi editions of the newspapers in 1980s to in order to make newspapers available in the morning in many parts of this  landlocked region where there was no internet edition of publications.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mourned the demise of Agarwala and extended his condolence to the members of the bereaved family.
Asom Sahitya Sabha also condoled the death of Agarwala and said that the void created by the death of Agarwala in the Assamese society would never be filled. The Asom Sahitya Sabha also extended their condolence to the members of bereaved family.
