SHILLONG: The Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the department will form a regulatory board to look into the issues of exorbitant fees charged by private schools in the state.

“We will have to set it up as we have to monitor the fees that are charged in commensurate with quality education the schools provide to its students,” he told a group of reporters on Friday. He added that the regulatory panel which the government intends to constitute will check on the kind of infrastructure, area of land and the education the school provides. A number of parents and guardians have complained on the fees charged by private schools and the high rate of school uniforms.
