TURA: Personnel from the 3rd MLP battalion currently posted in the national capital since August last year, have complained about the hardships they are having to face since their deputation there and accuse their authorities of turning a blind eye to their problems.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, some of the personnel allege that their officer refuses to grant leave which they are entitled to and also claim that there have been cases of personnel being granted leave without pay for reasons best known to the officer.
“Even when our husbands try and apply for loan for the family the loan application does not get processed by the office and it becomes very difficult for us back home because on one hand the loan is not obtained and on the other our husbands seldom get leave,” lamented the wives of the aggrieved personnel.
The personnel also allege that a havildar and a constable are taking the role of the officers and calling the shots in their place of posting.
However, some officers from the state police force point out that leave without pay generally occurs if the concerned person fails to return to duty after the completion of his leave granted by the department.
Personnel from the 3rd MLP battalion which is headquartered in Jowai joined duty in New Delhi’s Vikash Puri in August last year.
Earlier too, similar cases of poor work conditions had been levelled by other battalion personnel, including those from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) that were posted in Delhi.
