Explosives found at Guwahati railway station

GUWAHATI: Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered four abandoned bags containing explosives, three of them from a platform at Guwahati railway station while another bag was found inside a train Monday.

Sources informed that a train checking party of the Guwahati GRP recovered three abandoned bags containing explosive items from platform number three at the railway station around 5.45am while the Up Avadh-Assam Express train was on the platform.

The police found 440 gelatine sticks inside 22 packets, 700 detonators inside seven packets and three fuse wire bundles were recovered from the bags.

Later, GRP-OP staff at Jagiroad, about 55km from here, recovered another bag containing 160 gelatine sticks inside eight packets, 500 detonators inside five packets was recovered near the toilet of an AC-2 tier coach of the same train by the GRP-OP staff at Jagiroad, about 55km from here.
