SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep People Social Organization (HPSO) has opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 brought by the BJP-led NDA government.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the general secretary of HPSO, P Marbaniang of East Khasi Hills, said the bill would pose a danger to the minority community since the Inner Line Permit (ILP) is not implemented in the state.
“The minority community in the state will be overwhelmed, the Land Transfer Act, 1971 will also be weakened. The bill will lead to bloodshed in entire North East. The BJP is considering its vote bank,” he said.
He called upon the people of the state to oppose the CAB.
