SHILLONG: The state government has decided to constitute a fact-finding team to investigate the alleged leakage of question papers of the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Tuesday, Education Minister Lahkem Rymbui said the team will be headed by an officer not below the rank of Commissioner and Secretary. Earlier, the government had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The fact-finding team would inquire into the alleged leakage, its magnitude and source and also fix responsibility. The probe has to be completed within 12 days.
The inquiry would also suggest how to strengthen the entire system so that such leakages do not occur in the future.
Rymbui further informed that the government will not evaluate the papers for the time being and will take a call on the matter only after the inquiry report is submitted.
Police sources said that police would take some time to reach the king pin behind the leakage of the question papers, but “would surely do.”
Meanwhile, the seven people, who have been arrested, include some students and relatives of candidates, who purchased the papers to help them secure good marks.
The police are currently investigating a large area since the question papers were shared many times and there are different linkages to the entire incident.
