‘Xhoixobote Dhemalite’ screened in 21 theatres across Assam

GUWAHATI: Award-winning Assamese movie Xhoixobote Dhemalite hit the screens in 21 theatres across Assam.

Directed and Written by Bidyut Kotoky, the film stars Victor Banerjee, Nakul Vaid, Naved Aslam, Nipon Goswami, Nikumoni Barua & a bunch of young and energetic kids. It also marks the debut of actress & supermodel Dipannita Sharma in Assamese films.

Screened in theatres of Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon, Chhaigaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Mangaldoi, Moranhaat, Nazira, Nagaon, Pathsala, Rangiya, Sibsagar,Tangla and Tinsukia on Friday, the film was well received by the audience on its first day.

A special screening was also organised for the Media fraternity and for the children of the UTSAH NGO and was attended by Director Bidyut Kotoky, Veteran Assamese Actor Nippon Goswami and the talented child artists of the film. Speaking on the occasion, Director Bidyut Kotoky said, “It gives my heart a feeling of satisfaction to see the kind of love that the audience has bestowed on the film. House Full theatres are evidence to this fact. It is my request to all please bring your friends and family to watch the film.”

The child artistes of the movie about their experience of acting in the film said, “Being a part of the film, we could closely relate to the story which we have heard from our parents.”

One of the child artists, Ms. Akrishta Kashyap, said, “Acting in this film was wonderful and a totally new experience as I got to live my father’s childhood in the film. I got to feel what he felt at that time.”

The film is produced by ‘India Stories’, a Mumbai based production house and co-produced by Bidyut’s ‘Dhruv creative productions’ and ‘Kurmasana Kreates,’ a US based production house and Mukul Gogoi is the associate producer of the film.

The film was struggling for completion due to a shortage of funds but convinced by the fact it was a story that needed to be told, a Dubai based philanthropist Ms Jani Viswanath came in board as an executive producer. She also pledged her earning from the film back to Assam via her NGO ‘Healing Lives’.  The film had earlier received a limited release in Assam in January 2018.
