GUWAHATI: North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Assam Students’ Association in a  standing committee meeting with NEHU Students Union and NEHU Teacher’s Association and other indigenous groups of NEHU formed a joint action committee and decided to hold a protest rally against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 on the university premises in Shillong Wednesday.

“The protest rally will be organised at Central Library, NEHU at 10.30am,” Kobid Lahon, the general secretary of NEHU Assam Students’ Association informed The Shillong Times on Tuesday.

The association has been opposing the Bill, saying that the contentious legislation would harm the interests of the people of the Northeast if it is passed in Rajya Sabha.
