National entrepreneurship conclave ends in Ri Bhoi
SHILLONG: The National Agri- business Entrepreneurship Conclave concluded with the Krishi Unnati Mela which was attended by more than 200 farmers at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region in Umiam on Monday. About 500 participants took part in the conclave which had more than 80 stalls and 33 agri-business experts from all over the country. The National Agri- business Entrepreneurship Conclave culminated with a valedictory programme on Monday. Awards were also given out for the best stalls and the best oral presentation in the various technical sessions. In his address to the gathering during the valedictory session, N Prakash, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region said that the conclave provided a platform for entrepreneurs and farmers as well as to transform production into agri- business. Cabinet Minister Kyrmen Shylla lauded the efforts taken by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region in developing agri-ecosystems in the region. Political Advisor and secretary to chief minister Allentry F Dkhar attended the valedictory ceremony as the guest of honour.
Contractor disassociates with NEHU tender controversy
SHILLONG: Contractor BD Marbaniang whose tender for the construction of a hostel block in NEHU was rejected, said on Monday that no claim was made by him for the work. In response to the news report regarding the anomalies in tender allotment in NEHU, Marbaniang, who wants to disassociate with the controversy, said that dragging his name without his consent and creating unnecessary controversy by his so called well wishers was intended only at tarnishing the image of a pioneer institution such as NEHU.
SSA teachers to hold meeting to address pending arrears
SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Unit of the Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA), is set to hold discussions on approaching the Meghalaya High Court regarding 8 months of pending arrears for the financial year 2016-17. A meeting of SSA teachers under East Khasi Hills District will be held on February 16 at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall in Mawkhar at 10:30 am. In a statement issued here, publicity secretary of the East Khasi Hills MSSASA Starwell Lyngdoh said that discussions regarding the pending arrears will be addressed during the meeting and a decision will also be made concerning the next course of action to be taken by the association. On the same day, new office bearers for 2019-2021 will be elected.
Senior citizen dies in road mishap in Jowai
JOWAI: A 63-year-old man identified as Hamil Talang of Chyrmang village lost his life after being run over by a mini dumper truck driven by Ebor Sutnga along the congested Iawmusiang road on Monday. Talang was immediately rushed to KJP Assembly Hospital where he was declared brought dead by the attending MO. A case has been registered based on the complaint.
