TURA: The Garo Hills Catholic Union (GHCU) has decided to urge the state government to take necessary measures to nab the culprits responsible for the attacks on a number of Catholic parishes in Garo Hills.
Recently, unidentified miscreants had attacked six Catholic parishes which included the Dawagre Parish, Chokpot Parish, Dalu Parish, Garobadha Parish, Tikrikilla Parish and Samanda Parish during which several parish priests were assaulted and cash looted.
“We are deeply disturbed by the series of attacks on Catholic parishes in Garo Hills. The unabated attacks and dacoities have instilled a deep sense of fear among the Catholic priests and others manning the parishes, dispensaries and other institutions under the parishes,” the union said.
A meeting in this regard was held on Wednesday where members unanimously condemned the incidents and resolved to urge the state government to take strong measures to arrest the culprits to end the ongoing menace.
