Candlelight solidarity vigil in city for slain CRPF men

SHILLONG: The Rotary Club of Shillong along with CRPF officers and personnel took out a candle light march from Shillong Club to Khyndai Lad on Friday to show respect to the CRPF jawans who lost their lives at an IED attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters, CRPF IG, Prakash D expressed sadness at the incident and extended solidarity to the family of the 44 CRPF jawans who lost their lives.

“We are trying our best to serve the country and within the limited resources, we are doing our best and we will do even better if we get more resources,” he said.

President of Rotary Club, Kailash Verma condemned the act and urged the Central government to punish the culprits involved in the attack.

Meanwhile, CPC Meghalaya and Rabindranath Tagore Club, Laban also paid tribute to the jawans who lost their lives in the attack. A candlelight vigil was held at Laban Iewdak parking lot on Friday at 7 pm. A 2-minute silence was also observed in the club premises.
