GUWAHATI: Curtains came down on the 6th North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) which saw participation of over 10,000 students from across the region.
The valedictory function of the three-day programme was graced on Sunday by former Meghalaya Governor, RS Mooshahary and DP Agarwal, former chairman of UPSC, New Delhi.
Addressing the function, Mooshahary urged the students to be determined in their work. “Desire leads to determination and determination leads to deed and as is your deed so is your destiny. USTM is a happening university and today I am really happy that I gave consent for establishment of the university,” he said.
DP Agarwal, said he has been amazed by the display of brotherhood and unity by the participating colleges.
Offering the valedictory speech, Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM thanked all the participants of the programme and encouraged for more participation in the flagship event of the university.
He also emphasised on entrepreneurship and innovative approach in entrepreneurial ventures.
The programme aims at preparing and enhancing all round development of future graduates through guidance and placing them in a position where they can decide their career.
Students also displayed a cultural presentation with indigenous costumes in the morning.
The youths representing colleges from various parts of the region were accompanied by principals and teachers. Prizes and awards worth Rs 10 lakh were conferred on the winners of competitions held across various disciplines.
