Contraband WY tablets worth Rs 14.58 crore seized in Manipur by Assam Rifles

GUWAHATI: Troops of Assam Rifles seized about five lakh contraband “World is Yours (WY)” tablets worth around Rs 14.58 crore and apprehended two persons who were carrying the drugs in a car  at Kudenthabi check post located on Asian Highway Number 1 passing through Tengnoupal district  of Manipur on Monday evening.

Acting on a tip-off Assam Rifles personnel at the check post stopped a dark maroon coloured TATA ARIA bearing registration No AS01AZ 1722 for checking and in the process recovered the contraband drugs that were found hidden inside the doors and body of the vehicle.

The tablets were thrashed away in blue coloured pouches which had 243 separate bricks covered with whitish coloured paper, containing 10 packets each with each packet having a total of 200 tablets. There were more than 5 lakh pieces of tablets worth around  Rs 14.58 crores.

The apprehended persons were identified as Angam Jonathan aged 36 years from Churachandpur district  and Khamtinsei Touthang aged 29 years from Chandel district.

The drug commonly known as WIY or World is Yours, are methamphetamine tablets. These tablets can be smoked, snorted, ingested or injected. These tablets are manufactured in Myanmar  and smuggled into India through porous international border in Manipur.
