Cong lodges cash-for-vote complaint

SHILLONG: The election agent of Congress candidate of Ummulong Moodymmai constituency has filed an FIR against two persons for offering money to a voter with an appeal to cast her vote in favour of an independent candidate.
The election agent, Klinsman Lamare, lodged an FIR at Ummulong Beat House, West Jaintia Hills, against Briwon Pohshna of Ummulong and Welly Muksor, retired deputy superintendent of police, for violation of election code of conduct.
He alleged that the two offered Rs 3000 to a lady, Mira Pyngrope of Wahrymbai village, to cast her vote in favour of Charles Wilson Muksor, an independent candidate contesting the Ummulong Moodymmai seat.
The incident took place on February 20 and the FIR was filed on February 23.
Lamare requested the police to take stern action against the two as per law.
He said the charge of bribery is substantiated by a video clip.
