SHILLONG: Different political parties in Meghalaya on Tuesday hailed the air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on a Jaish-e- Mohammed camp in Pakistan.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Charles Pyngrope said that it was a move which was overdue considering the continuous attacks on the brave soldiers of India for a very long time by Pakistan-sponsored terror groups. He hailed the Indian Air Force for ensuring that only the terrorist camp was destroyed and there was no collateral damage to civilians.
BJP MLA and Health Minister, AL Hek too heaped praise on the IAF for the strike across the border in Pakistan. Echoing similar views, NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi said, “A job well done by Indian Air Force.”
He said that the party supported the Prime Minister and India would stand united in such a situation UDP senior leader, Bindo M Lanong said there was reason for India to respond and react strongly to what has happened in the recent past like the attack on CRPF personnel at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir in which at least 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
“It was fair on the part of India to react and target only the militants,” he said.
Stating that Pakistan must not allow its territory to be used for militant activities, he added that the attacks on India have not been carried out by the Pakistani government, but by militants known to it.
Government to government interaction between India and Pakistan should now be normalised and both countries being neighbours should live in peace, Lanong said while urging both for dialogue.
