SHILLONG: Transport Minister and NPP leader Sniawbhalang Dhar has denied allegations that he had chased away some voters, who were not supporters of the party candidate, at the polling station near his residence at Ummulong in West Jaintia Hills.
The statement came from Dhar a day after a video went viral on social media where he was allegedly preventing voters, who were not in favour of his candidate, from exercising their franchise.
Dhar on Friday said that some voters were not adhering to the arrangement made by the local committee and were refusing to stand in the queue.
“Due to the lack of discipline among some of the people, I had to shout and tell them only those who were standing in the queue would be allowed to cast their votes. I had said that the people who were refusing to stand in the queue should be chased out,” he said. He said that in the video, he never said anything about voting for the NPP, UDP or Congress candidate.
“There was a misinterpretation of the statement in the video which was circulated through the social media,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, he informed that he would file an FIR to find out the person who made the video to defame him.
