SHILLONG: Though the enrolment for Meghalaya health scheme phase IV is in full swing, private hospitals are yet to provide treatment as they are awaiting payment from the insurance company.
The Health Department has already released Rs 15 crore to the Reliance General Insurance Company Limited to disburse the pending dues to the empanelled private hospitals in the state.
The Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS)-Phase IV provides an enhanced coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family with no restrictions on family size and age.
The MHIS is in convergence with Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23 last year.
The CEO of MHIS, Pravin Bakshi, said since the government has released Rs 15 crore to the insurance company, he hoped that the money will be released to the private hospitals.
He said those who are enrolled with MHIS-IV can avail medical treatment in government hospitals, including NEIGRIHMS.
The official said direction has been issued to government hospitals to accept the cards of patients.
The beneficiaries are issued individual cards/E-cards on approval of their identification. Approved beneficiaries under the scheme can avail benefits in all MHIS and PMJAY empanelled hospitals in the state and identified health facilities and hospitals across the country.
