SHILLONG: UDP MDC from Shella, Teiñwell Dkhar, has been elected uncontested as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday.
In his speech, Dkhar assured the other MDCs to work in a transparent manner and accept constructive suggestions. He maintained to lead the Council without fear.
“What is my secret of winning the MDC election for the last 4 terms? It is all about speaking from the heart. It cannot change,” he said adding that his feet did not allow amidst temptations to switch over to other parties.
As for his one year term, he said one year term is enough to showcase one’s administrative acumen and assured to streamline the department in the district council.
Speaking about the role of the opposition, Dkhar said the opposition members consisting of Congress members should play a cooperative role and the failure/achievement of the District Council rests on all elected MDCs.
