Drugs worth Rs 15 lakh seized in Tripura

Agartala: In two separate raids, BSF troops apprehended a drug peddler and seized a large quantity of contraband items worth Rs 15 lakh at bordering Sonamura in Sepahijala district yesterday.
The arrested person has been identified as Jaffar Hossain (20) resident of Sahapur village. BSF and police launched a search in a house based on specific information and when Jaffar Hossain tried to escape from the house, he was immediately apprehended. On frisking 1,428 Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 7,14,000/- were recovered from his possession. He confessed his involvement in illegal drug trade in Bangladesh. In another incident last night, BSF troops deployed at Dipak Border out Post of Sonamura received specific information and conducted a special operation. The BSF troops observed that two miscreants riding two separate motorbikes were moving towards the Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence. BSF troops on duty challenged them but they did not pay any heed and continued advancing towards the border fence. The BSF found one round of tablets worth Rs 8, 00, 000/- and two kgs of Ganja worth Rs 10,000/- from the spot. (UNI)
