15-day nutrition programme begins in Tura

TURA: A day-long Poshan Mela was organised to mark the beginning of the Poshan Pakhwada, held at Salmanpara, Tura, on Saturday.
The programme under Zikzak ICDS Project was part of the celebration of the first anniversary of Poshan Abhiyan. M O T Sangma, CDPO, Zikzak, addressed the two-week Pakhwada.
M L K Marak, BDO, Zikzak, who honoured the gathering as the chief guest, said the programme was held to bring awareness on anaemia and malnutrition among women.
He also gave away prizes to the winners of the Recipe Competition on nutritious food, targeting pregnant women and adolescent girls. The award was announced by Emma Sangma, nutritionist, DPO ICDS, Tura.
During the mela, International Women’s Day was also observed in collaboration with Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society.
