Sports schemes in SGH
Sports and Youth Affairs minister Banteidor Lyngdoh said that the department had not sanctioned funds for improvement and development of sports infrastructure for South Garo Hills in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
To this, NPP MLA Rakkam A Sangma said, “This does not sound good, Sir,” adding that if he had asked about 2016-17, he might have received the same answer.
He also asked for the reason for no scheme being sanctioned and whether there is any proposal for it.
Lyngdoh replied that in 2016-17, a few schemes had been completed. However, he said there are a few proposals for South Garo Hills for 2019-20.
Rakkam said that proposals should be translated into action.

National Food Security
Congress MLA Mayralborn Syiem raised a supplementary query on whether beneficiaries have availed their quota under the National Food Security Act.
Minister of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs James Sangma replied stating that the process of claims and objections is ongoing and that the entire process will be finalised in due time.

ADB projects
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had not taken up any project in the state in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Replying to a supplementary query raised by Congress MLA PT Sawkmie, the chief minister said that ADB and World Bank (WB) are not like government departments where projects are sanctioned every year.
“It depends on the proposal and coordination of the ADB and the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. It is not mandatory for ADB to sanction schemes,” Sangma said.
Sangma also informed that departments responsible for taking up and sanctioning ADB projects are the Planning Department and the Department of Economic Affairs.

Cong leaders absent
The Assembly session on Tuesday and Wednesday witnessed a lack of participation from members of the Congress.
However, it was later learnt that former chief minister Mukul Sangma is currently in Delhi while other Congress leaders like Ampareen Lyngdoh and Zenith Sangma have been entrusted work by the AICC.
