SHILLONG: NCP state president and MLA Saleng Sangma who is supporting the MDA Government believes that Meghalaya has not done much while urging people to change what they can in the upcoming parliamentary polls.

He was replying to a query on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and his reading of the political battlefield with Congress fielding its heavyweights for Shillong and Tura seats.

Attacking the MPs, Sangma said that when one looks at the scenario of Meghalaya, he has not seen MPs coming up and doing something but it is only the government and MLAs who work. He further urged the people to make the right choice if they want a difference.

Although a part of the coalition, Saleng said that he believes more on experience than rhetoric while adding that one can never buy the mindset of the people.

“There is always polarisation amongst the people and the results will only reveal the truth,” he stated.

Recalling his experience of the last Assembly election where NCP expected to win many seats but managed only one, the MLA from Gambegre  added that similarly in this Lok Sabha elections, “we cannot predict just because one feels that he or she has an upper hand”. “It is the choice of the people,” the MLA added.
