Rs 3 lakh seized in Ampati

SHILLONG: The static surveillance team in Ampati has seized Rs 3 lakh on Wednesday. The money was found in an SUV with Assam registration, the district election officer of South West Garo Hills informed.
The person in the vehicle claimed the money was for paying wages to workers of a stone quarry but no documents were produced. The committee instituted by the district election officer is ascertaining the documents.
Mankachar in Assam is close to the Meghalaya border and a good number of vehicles pass through Ampati each day.
