GUWAHATI : A 59-member team comprising kickboxers and officials of the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) left Shillong for Pune on Thursday morning to take part in the WAKO India National Kickboxing Federation Cup 2019 organised by Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association Maharashtra under the aegis of WAKO India Kickboxing Federation from March 24 to 28.
At the warm send off tea party yesterday at the Main Hall Hotel Assembly, Dr. Vikash Gupta, the Adviser of MSKA along with other speakers including Lorenzo Pearson Warjri highlighted the importance of any games and sports activities in today’s world now where sports have become an agenda for employment generation, skill development, healthcare as well as an entertainment for tourisms development.
Hence the speakers stressed on the need to take sporting activities as a career now as well as to channelising the youth energy in the right perspectives. MSKA wishes all the athletes the best.
MSKA also felicitated three bronze medalists who represented the NEHU kickboxing team for the first time in the history of kickboxing in Meghalaya.
Hameshaniah Suiam of St Edmund’s College Shillong, Ioonis Mynsong of Kiang Nongbah Government College, Jowai and Belldona Pakyntein of St. Anthony’s College Shillong were honoured for their achievements at the All India Inter University Kickboxing Championship held at Andhra Pradesh University, Visakhapatnam earlier this month.
On the other hand, MSKA also congratulates Hame Shaniah Suiam as he will represent India at the Ranking Tournament of 4th International Turkish Open Kickboxing Tournament to be held from April 4-7 in Antalya Turkey for the events of K1 Rules, Low Kick, Full Contact, Light Contact, Point Fighting, Team Fights, Musical Form known as Grand Champion Open for Seniors, Juniors, Cadets & Veterans with a prize money of over 30,000 Euro Total Prize.
National Ranking Kickboxer Hame Shaniah Suiam who is in supreme form recently and he is also pretty confident about his bright chances in the Kickboxing tournament, will take part for the below 57 kg Point Fighting and Kick Light in Men Category.
