Election control room set up in Baghmara

TURA: In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha Election 2019, a control number 9402531412 has been set up in the District Election Office, South Garo Hills for the purpose of registering and monitoring the complaints regarding the election related issues, informed election officials.

Out of the 24 legislative assembly seats that make up the Tura Lok Sabha seat, three, namely Siju-Rongara, Baghmara and Chokpot, flal in the South Garo Hills district.

      Meanwhile,  in order to examine the application for election advertisements in both print and electronic media by contesting or political parties during election,  the District level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee headed by District Election Officer of South Garo Hills District Hubert B Marak as Chairman and four others, with District Public Relations Office journalist as Member Secretary, have been constituted.

Also, the Flying Squad Team, Static Surveillance Team, Video Surveillance Teams has also been constituted in the District to check the violation of model code of conduct.

DEO asks arms license holders to deposit arms

In the meantime, the District Election Officer of East Garo Hills, Swapnil Tembe, had issued a notification asking all the arms license holders in the district to deposit their arms in the nearest police stations and police out-posts, in view of the April 1
