NONGPOH: The BJP on Tuesday organised a district level meeting here to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and to ensure victory of its candidate for the Shillong seat, Sanbor Shullai.
The meeting was attended by the state BJP president, Shibun Lyngdoh, and vice president David Kharsati among others. It was presided by S Thabah, Ri Bhoi district president.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Shibun Lyngdoh said the party is expecting to win the seat this time as Shullai has worked for the betterment and welfare of the state and its people.
He claimed people of the state were fed up with the Congress, which had failed on all fronts, and the BJP would, therefore, win their support. David Kharsati also rubbished rumours that the BJP is an anti-Christian party, saying it, instead, is working hand in hand with the government to strengthen bonds among people from all religions and castes and also for the betterment and welfare of the state and the people.
