SHILLONG: With the dispute over the post of KHNAM president, the option before party candidate THS Bonney may be to contest as Independent.
An official source said since the issue related to the post of KHNAM president is sub judice and the case was listed to be taken up after
three weeks, one option before the candidate will be to contest as Independent.
) In this context, the source added that the pending case will not be a cause for disqualification.
Since KHNAM is an unrecognised registered party, the candidates are usually considered as Independents.
If Bonney contests as Independent, he will have to choose a free symbol as he cannot use the KHNAM symbol.
The source added that the CPI candidate will not come under disqualification once he includes his pending dues to the bank in the affidavit.
