SHILLONG: AICC chief Rahul Gandhi will visit Meghalaya to campaign for the party candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Congress spokesperson HM Shangpliang said apart from Rahul, AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is likely to visit the state.
It was informed that the list of star campaigners was submitted to the AICC and it is likely to be approved by Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Shangpliang said the Garo Hills-based MLAs have held meetings to work out strate-gies for ensuring a win for Mukul Sangma. He stated that apart from the leaders of Garo Hills, several MLAs from the Khasi Hills region will also visit Garo Hills to campaign for Mukul.
Stating that several top leaders from different political parties, including BJP, like Edmund Sangma have joined the Congress and are supporting Mukul Sangma, he added that the votes for Congress is increasing in Garo Hills.
