Militant escapes from hospital
Imphal: The chief of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (Nando) faction escaped from the state-run hospital Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS) here Tuesday, where he was undergoing treatment, police said. Th Nando Singh was arrested in 2003 by the security forces in connection with the sensational murder for ransom of 8-year-old Lungila Elizabeth daughter of ex-minister Francis Ngajokpa. Nando Singh was lodged in the Sajiwal Central jail He was admitted to the hospital after he had complained of “back pain” in the jail some two months back, said a senior police officer. Nando Singh escaped from the hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, the officer said. The Manipur Police has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to any individual who will provide information that will lead to the arrest of the undertrial prisoner. (PTI) \
BJP leader assaulted
Itanagar: A BJP leader was assaulted by unidentified persons in in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, police said Tuesday. The BJP mandal president of Liromoba constituency Bajom Bogo, was assaulted by a group of unidentified men in Aalo, the district headquarters town on Monday, Superintendent of Police, P Mari Riba said. A group of around 40 unidentified youths attacked Bogo on Monday evening, the SP said, adding an FIR has been lodged at the Aalo police station. (PTI)
Over Rs two cr seized in poll-bound Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar: The flying squad teams, static surveillance and police have seized over Rs two crore till Monday in Arunachal Pradesh, since the model code of conduct (MCC) came into force in the State. Polling for the 60 Assembly and two parliamentary seat in Arunachal Pradesh will be held simultaneously on April 11. According to Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kangki Darang, a total of cash Rs 2,27,83,050 have been seized in Arunachal Pradesh till Monday since enforcement of the MCC. Apprising that cash seized above Rs 10 lakh at one time is referred to the IT department for further investigation, Mr Darang said four cases have been referred so far including the latest seizure of Rs 10.30 lakh from Lower Subansiri district on March 22. Udaipur: Political parties are busy in campaigning in favor of their candidates for upcoming Lok Sabha election in Tripura. The source of election commissioner office of Tripura said that the preparation is all set for upcoming lok sabha poll, festival of democracy. Subal Bhowmik, Congress candidates who contesting with Pratima Bhomik, BJP candidates said, after the submission of his nomination paper that the Tripura had became CPI(M) free state now but the culture of CPI(M) had not changed till Tuesday.
