Animal vaccination cum health camp held

TURA: An animal vaccination cum health camp was conducted in Marapara village under Dalu block in West Garo Hills by ICAR-KVK, Tura on Thursday under National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project.

 Mass vaccination of cattle and goats against FMD (Foot and Mouth disease) and Pigs against Swine Fever was carried out during the early hours of the programme. A total of 122 numbers of cattle and 19 goats were vaccinated against FMD and 17 pigs were vaccinated against Swine Fever covering three villages- Marapara, Sannengre and Bagugre.

 Following the vaccination, treatment of the diseased animals also took place. Skin infections including humpsore and maggoted wounds which were common problems in the village were treated. 

Farmers were also prescribed for different diseases of cattle, goats, pigs and poultry. Essential medicines along with mineral mixtures were also distributed among the participants.
