Minor tribal girl raped in Hailakandi

GUWAHATI: A minor tribal girl was allegedly raped at Gharmura village along the Assam-Mizoram boundary in Hailakandi district of the state on Wednesday and the Police were yet to nab the culprit.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the minor girl studying in Class V, was returning home after attending a coaching class at Ramnathpur’s Navodaya Vidyalaya.

In his FIR at the Ramnathpur police station, the minor girl’s father alleged that she was assaulted and raped by a man identified as one Dilowar Hussain of Rajarkhal region in a jungle near the railway track in the area.

Police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprit  and the victim was sent for medical examination  at S K Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi.
