General observer interacts with sector officers of NGH
Resubelpara: The General Observer for North and East Garo Hills, Anurag Pandey, on Thursday held a briefing with police officers, civil sector officers and micro observers on election procedures ahead of the 2-Tura parliamentary constituency election. “It is necessary to have close cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure smooth, free and fair elections,” said Pandey. He also sought their support and coordination and pressed upon them to abide by the rules and regulations as mandated by the Election Commission. During the interaction, the deputy commissioner, the additional deputy commissioner and the SP apprised the sector officers of their responsibilities and urged them to devote a joint effort for the smooth conduct of the polls. Earlier, the general observer also interacted with the representatives of political parties at the Circuit House, Resubelpara, where they were acquainted of the dos and don’ts that needed to be observed during the entire election process.

Workshop on cyber crime today
SHILLONG: ICFAI Law School of the ICFAI University, Tripura, will organise a three-day national workshop on the theme ‘Cybercrimes and Legal Regulations’ on Friday. The workshop will be organised in collaboration with The National Law School of India University, Bangalore, with an aim to discuss various aspects of cybercrimes and cyber laws and the issues of law making and policy initiatives on cybercrime.With the contemporary world being surrounded by cybercrimes, each and every aspect of the subject will be analysed thoroughly by the resource persons to educate the students, research scholars, teachers, NGOs, practitioners, policymakers and other participants on how to deal with its issues. On-the-spot registrations for the participants will also be made available at the campus at 9:15 am onwards.

Election observers for SWGH
AMPATI: The Election Commission of India on Thursday designated Pratap Chakma, IAS as general observer and Biswarup Das, IRS as expenditure observer for 53-Ampati, 54-Mahendraganj and 55-Salmanpara assembly constituencies in South West Garo Hills for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chakma can be contacted at 8575037440 and his liaison officer, assistant director of sports, JP Marak, at 8131056891. Das can be contacted at 8240903988 and his liaison officer, JM Sangma, E.E. (PHE) at 9436112485. The liaison officers can also be personally contacted at Ampati Circuit House in room number 101 and 102 for any election-related issues.

Meghalaya Super Star Season 3
SHILLONG: The semi-final of Meghalaya Super Star Season 3 was held at U Soso Tham Auditorium on March 23.
Boby Shangdiar was named as the best dancer while Bloomingstar Sylliang was given the title of best singer.
The show is being organised by the All Meghalaya Dancers’ Association (AMDA) in collaboration with Sain Productions. The programme was inaugurated by AMDA president, Kitbok Thabah, Stacy Mawrie who was among the top 12 contestants of Dance India Dance Little Master 2018 aamong other guests. Judges during the programme included Bollywood dance choreographer Anup Sunar, local magician John Lanong, Ibanisha Pathaw winner of North East Highway Star and others. The grand finale will be held on May 4 at U Soso Tham Auditorium.

Samiti donates to underprivileged
SHILLONG: Meghandini Mahila Samiti donated stationery to underprivileged schoolchildren of Guru Nanak Upper Primary school on Thursday. Renowned businessman and social worker Sanjib Das attended the event as the chief guest and distributed the study materials to the schoolchildren.
