SVEEP awareness programme on EVM, VVPAT held at different venues in Tura

TURA:  A crowd captivating Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness programme on EVM, VVPAT and Ethical Voting was oranized in three different locations in Tura during the last few days.

For maximum awareness and participation this year, the SVEEP campaigns are being carried out in collaboration with RED FM 93.5 Shillong in various locations in the district which included activities like dance, election quiz, poll process, awareness on ethical voting, mock poll etc. Don Bosco College, Tura, Montfort Centre for Education, Tura and Circular Road, at Tura Super Market were the venues where the participatory SVEEP campaign was carried out successfully this week.

 West Garo Hills District Election Officer (DEO), Ram Singh said that active SVEEP campaigns are being conducted and more eligible voters and public is made aware about the process of voting and casting ethical vote. He said that apart from educating the general public about the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha, special campaigns on voting procedures, ethical voting, EVM and VVPAT is being carried out in Selsella as the voters in the 48-Selsella (ST) LAC, need to get more educated about the voting processes as this upcoming election, there is simultaneous Bye-Election in the constituency. He also said that special awareness is simultaneously being conducted for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)  and added that the SVEEP team has also designed Voter Guide Brochure which is being made available for circulation for creating greater awareness for voters participating in the upcoming election through electronic media and posters.

 It may be mentioned that during the energetic SVEEP campaigns, general public is actively participating in the mock polls, which is being facilitated as a part of the awareness programme. It is very encouraging to note that over 365 mock polls were casted in Tura,  during the three SVEEP campaign held on 27th March which emphasized on ‘ No Voter to be Left Behind’ and Accessible Elections.
