BSF troops apprehend two drug smugglers in Assam

Guwahati: Two alleged drug smugglers were apprehended by BSF troops from near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Dhubri district, officials said on Friday. Based on specific information, BSF troops posted in Patamari border outpost observed suspicious movements towards the international border taking advantage of dense foggy weather on Thursday, a BSF release said. Two women were challenged but they did not pay any heed and tried to cross the international border (IB), the release said, adding the two were apprehended by the troops before they could cross the IB along with 10,500 strips of contraceptive tablets. The two apprehended women were handed over to Dhubri police station for further legal action, it added. (PTI)
