Rs 3 lakh seized in Khliehriat

SHILLONG: The flying squad with the assistance from the static surveillance team seized Rs 3 lakh from Khliehriat on Friday.
An election official said that cash was seized from a villager from Mynso, West Jaintia Hills.
“Inquiry is on to find out the source of the seized cash as the person claimed that he carried the money to purchase a Shaktiman from Cham Cham village”, the official added.
The district election officer asked for proof from him to substantiate his claim.
The matter has been referred to a committee to conduct a hearing before the cash is released from the police station.
Earlier, over Rs 25 lakh was seized from parts of the state during the raid by flying squads and static surveillance team.
