Workers’ union demands release of arrears

SHILLONG: The All Jaintia Muster Roll Workers & Labour Union has petitioned several offices in Jowai including one in Khliehriat to prepare the quarterly budget of the daily minimum wages of muster roll workers and to release the pending wages and arrears at the earliest.
Union president, KL Pariat said that the union had earlier raised the issue with Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong and principal secretary, DP Wahlang.
In this connection, the union had asked the officers to prepare the quarterly budget beforehand to ensure that workers are not deprived of basic necessities.
