SHILLONG: NEIGRIHMS Resident Doctors’ Association (NRDA) has once again written to the director of the institute to revoke the improper character and integrity certificate to Dr Tony Ete.
In its letter dated April 1, the association reminded the “autocratic and arbitrary administration” that it would stand united against any kind of assault on students of NEIGRIHMS and demand justice.
“You are requested to reconsider to give Dr Tony Ete (DM cardiology) a proper character certificate according to the laid down principles and practices of the institute, instead of engaging yourself in victimization by using the official machinery of NEIGRIHMS to harass students and sabotaging the overall objectives of the institute,” the letter stated.
“Any further delay to give a reasonable reply to the NRDA/Dr Tony Ete would amount to intimidation and disruption of the institute/academics and patient care. Our demand remains the same as appeared in our communication dated March 25,” it added.
The association had demanded immediate withdrawal of the character certificate. The certificate was issued by the Dean, Dr AC Phukan, under proper guidance of the Director, NEIGRIHMS to Ete, who is the former president of NRDA.
It wanted NEIGRIHMS to issue a proper certificate and issue unconditional apology failing which the association threatened to communicate with the national bodies and students’ associations across the Country and NGOs of North East states to fight against the injustice.
