SHILLONG: With just than 10 days left for the Lok Sabha polls in the state, political activity is gaining momentum, but absence of star campaigners has made electioneering lacklustre.
Different political parties, including the Congress, BJP, UDP and others, are holding meetings and rallies to drum up support for their candidates across the state.
In Shillong, candidates and their leaders are holding meetings at the locality level. However, the elections this time around are relatively dull in the absence of star campaigners from the national parties though both BJP and Congress are fighting against each other here the state. As of now, only AICC president Rahul Gandhi was supposed to visit Shillong on April 4, but even that has been cancelled whereas the BJP so far has not even announced if any of their top leaders would visit the state for campaigning.
Most of the Cabinet ministers here and MLAs across the state are busy campaigning for their respective candidates and even as the secretariat looks dull as hardly any minister remains present.
