Special campaign for PwD voters in Tura

TURA: West Garo Hills district election officer Ram Singh said on Tuesday a special campaign to identify and enroll names of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) was organised where 563 PwD voters were identified. Singh held a meeting on Tuesday where he said Braille ballot papers, wheelchairs and other necessary arrangements have been made for PwDs.
With 80 PwDs in the district, South Tura Assembly constituency has the highest number of PwDs followed by 75 in Gambegre, 73 in Rajabala, 51 in Phulbari, 50 in Selsella, 49 each in Dadenggre and North Tura, 46 in Rangsakona, 38 in Tikrikilla, 27 in Dalu and 25 in Raksamgre.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) ZJ Sangma said this is the first time the Election Commission has appointed observer for PwDs.
